岡山大学学術研究院医歯薬学域 地域救急・災害医療学講座 講師 小原隆史 この度、JMSA–Nishisaki Pediatric Critical Care Education in North America Grantの初の受賞者として、2025年9月8日から12日にカナダ・モントリオールで開催された Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) Network Fall Meeting 2025に参加させて頂きました。今回の経験は、小児集中治療の臨床研究に携わる者としての視野を広げ、国際的な繋がりを意識し、本邦における研究の在り方を考えていく上で、貴重な契機となりました。 ■ Clinical Research Course (CRC) 初日に参加した Clinical Research Course (CRC) には、多様な職種や背景を持つ38名の若手研究者が集まりました。講師陣は、分野を代表する研究者であり、コース全体を通じて、終始、和やかな雰囲気で進められ、コースでは、研究の意義はもちろん、キャリア形成や研究資金の獲得方法、ライフワークバランスなど、実践的な内容も幅広く取り上げれました。特に印象的であったのは、北米におけるメンターシップの在り方です。日本では、課題(研究ネタ)を与えられて遂行する「一方向型」が一般的ですが、北米では、メンターと関係性がより相互的・協働的であり、本人が真に興味を持つテーマについて時間をかけて進めていき、時には施設を越えて、より専門的なメンターとつながることも推奨されていました。 また、限られた時間で自身の研究や疑問などを的確に伝える練習(pitch)や、効果的なスライド作成・プレゼンテーション方法についても講義がありました。実際、デモ指導を受けた参加者が、本会議ではより洗練された発表を行っており、その教育効果の高さを実感しました。 日本には、このような臨床研究に関する包括的なコースはほとんど行われておらず、本邦の現状に即した形に整えた上で、若手臨床医やコメディカルスタッフに対して、臨床研究に魅力を伝える一助となる可能性を強く感じました。 ■ PALISI Network fall meeting 2025…
