The JMSA honors students in the medical professions who demonstrate excellence and a commitment to the values of the Japanese Medical Society of America. ?Scholarship recipients are announced around April each year (the data can be variable because we must coordinate with our scholarship sponsors). ?Here are the students who received scholarships in the past year and their proposed projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Honjo-JMSA Scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Kenji Fujitani (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai)- Guiding JMSA shadowing program and the mentorship\/advising program<\/p>\n

Alisa Prager (Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons)- Organize the Nishimiya Fellows Program in Fukushima and careers in medicine program locally<\/p>\n

Kenny Nakazawa (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai)- Organize JMSA career panel as guidance for prospective student members<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Kuro Murase MD-JMSA Scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Teruyuki Sano, Ph.D. (Post-Doctorate Fellow at New York University)- Chairing the 2016 JMSA New York Life Science Forum for network of Japanese biomedical researchers<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Mitsui USA-JMSA Scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Michael Yao (New York University)- To study outcomes of patients found to have small brain aneurysms<\/p>\n

Jacob Lurie (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai)- Study the Post Traumatic Growth of nursing students and help guide schools’ response to future disasters<\/p>\n

Margo Sheck, M.D. (Pediatric Resident at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai)- Establish a pediatric\/genetics resident exchange program with Jikei University<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Hazel Lever (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai)- Assessing the feasibility of resilience-promotion among nurses in Fukushima<\/p>\n

Tsuyoshi Konuma, Ph.D. (Post-Doctorate Fellow at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai)- Children’s science fair to promote scientific curiosity among children<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Yumeko Kawano (Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons)- To compile medical information about gestational diabetes for lay audience<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Dan Ebner (Brown University School of Medicine)- A carbon-ion radiotherapy study at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS) in Chiba, Japan<\/p>\n
