• Welcome!

The Japanese Medical Society of America (JMSA) is a group of medical and health care professionals with a knowledge of Japanese language, culture or customs. JMSA members are also proud supporters of local community efforts and educational scholarships.
  • President's Message

We are a society of physicians and dentists of Japanese heritage that was established in 1973 by a small group of Japanese physicians in New York City. Initially, networking and social gathering were the main purposes of the society, but as we expanded over the years, we began to emphasize community service. First such effort was the scholarship program to aid deserving medical students and trainees so that they would become successful medical and social leaders of the future.

  • Get Listed

One of the benefits of membership in the JMSA is listing in our professional directory. This provides both new referrals from patients looking for a doctor and also boosts your search results if you link to your practice website. JMSA.org is highly ranked by all the major search engines.

  • Student Members

Our student members are involved in many outstanding projects both here and abroad. Student members enjoy mentorship from JMSA members in various medical fields, helping to prepare for their future careers.  The JMSA also awards a number of scholarships each year.

ATTENTION ALL PHYSICIANS WHO GRADUATED FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL IN JAPAN:
The JMSA invites you to participate in a research project conducted by two JMSA members-in-training. Please read on for more information:

We are studying the knowledge, feelings, and preferences of Japanese medical students concerning reproductive health and birth control as part of our project for the JMSA Nishioka Foundation Scholarship.

We are currently running a pilot project in which we are asking graduated physicians (regardless of current training or specialty) who have completed medical school in Japan to complete a brief survey that will take approximately 10-15 minutes.

The survey is voluntary and anonymous. If a question is not applicable to you, please skip it. We would greatly appreciate your participation.

The survey can be completed by going to:
