Dr. Kinichi Shibutani, M.D Honored PDF Print E-mail

2005 was the 50th anniversary for Dr. Shibutani after graduating from Kyoto University School of Medicine. Dr. Shibutani was invited to serve as a key-note speaker at the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1955. Advances in medicine have been remarkable over the past 50 years. Dr. Shibutani said that is was satisfying that he practiced during this period and was able to contribute to the improvements of safety for patients who undergo anesthesia. Dr. Shibutani served as the President of the Japanese Medical Society of America from 1989 through 1992. Dr. Shibutani was the Professor of Anesthesiology at the New York Medical College and currently Professor Emeritus of Anesthesiology. After retirement two years ago, Dr. Shibutani published papers related to “opioid analgesis and obesity†in the journals Anesthesiology and the British Journal of Anaesthesia and participated in the symposium of the postoperative pain at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists. He also published a revised edition of the anesthesia text book that was published 5 years ago in Japan. The JMSA congratulates Dr. Shibutani for his great achievements!
