What is JUMP?

us_japan_pills.jpgThe picture to the left demonstrates a small difference between the US and Japanese approach to medicine.  People living in the US can instantly recognize the prescription pill bottle.  In Japan, however, all pills come in plastic sheets like those on the right.  While it is interesting to learn that Japan and the US give out pills in a different way, the more interesting part is to learn why.

To get to the why, the Japanese Medical Society of America and the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation are pleased to present our JUMP program.  JUMP stands for "Japan US Medical Partnership" and aims to partner medical students from Japan and the US together in order to facilitate learning about the medical and educational systems in Japan and the US.

JUMP will also make materials created in this learning process available to the public with the hope that it will become a resource for people interested in US and Japanese medicine.  Because the information available about the Japanese medical system and educational system in English is scarce, the JUMP materials will become a valuable resource for people interested in learning more.
